Panoramic X-Ray
The panoramic X-ray is the “entrance-hall” of dental treatments. No treatment is started at ChainBridge dentistry without taking a panoramic X-ray picture. The panoramic X-ray, as it is shown by the name, is a process where a detailed picture is taken of the teeth and bones going round the mouth, making 2 dimensions of the 3.
Before preparing the treatment plan the use of the panoramic X-ray is essential, as it may happen that the patient arrives with acute complaints, which may have several causes, but only the X-ray will show what exactly should they be treated for. Moreover, the large panoramic picture provides a look inside places, which otherwise cannot be seen, so it helps explore problems yet with recessive characteristics, or being born. Of course, in such cases the treatment plan is prepared in a way that not only the acute illness, deformation, etc. is dealt with, but also preventive treatments are involved in the programme.
The panoramic X-ray apparatus takes pictures of very good quality, while the patient is effected by practically no, or at least negligible amount of radiation. Furthermore, a panoramic X-ray needs to be taken very rarely as the teeth do not change so much that it would be worth taking a panoramic X-ray picture on them for example every year.
The panoramic X-ray is supplemented by the small X-ray, which can give an even more detailed picture of problems indicated on the panoramic X-ray picture. Although, usually the small X-ray is used for this purpose, if the patient visiting ChainBridge dentistry is pregnant with a foetus younger than three months, then instead of the panoramic X-ray only the small X-ray is used in order to ensure safety.
